Certification of RAR year 2000 compatibility.
This is to certify to that the RAR archiver,
all versions, has been tested and has no known problems concerning the year 2000.
RAR staff has made every effort to verify the correct operation of the RAR archiver
before, during and after the change from 1999 to 2000.
RAR uses 32-bit DOS time format for internal
storage, which can represent time until the year 2100 and thus has no problem with
year 2000 compliance, presuming that the underlying hardware/OS does not have a
problem.
RAR and WinRAR are Y2K compliant and perform
the following date/time operations:
- Storing file time
- Setting file time
- Comparing file times
In all of these operations, WinRAR uses
32-bit DOS date/time format which allows dates up to 2100 to be represented. Date
subtraction and the entering of dates by the user are not required by WinRAR.
Be advised that if your computer through
its BIOS, operating system or otherwise fails to provide proper dates to the RAR
archiver, it may not operate properly. This problem is beyond the RAR Team's control
or ability to affect.
Should a problem be found, within the RAR
code, RAR staff warrant that RAR code will be corrected free of charge in a timely
manner, subject to the terms and conditions of the license agreement for RAR currently
in force.
