| Q: I get an error message about unknown method
when I try to extract a RAR archive. What does that mean? |
A: This means you are using a
version of WinRAR that is older than the version that was used
to make the archive originally. Download and install the latest
version of WinRAR and try the extract again. Back to top |

| Q: I downloaded a bunch of RAR
files and when I try to extract them, I get a message that a
file is missing. What can I do? |
A: This
means that you don't have all the parts of the archive, and
you need to go back to the source you got them from and retrieve
the missing pieces. Since RAR can take very large files and
break them up into smaller parts, you need all the parts to
put the big file back together again. Back to top |

| Q: I downloaded a bunch
of RAR files, and when I extracted the contents, I have
a .bin or .cue file. What do I do with them? |
A: Those
files can be read by a program called ISO buster that
is available on the internet. You will need that program
in order to turn those files into something useful. Back to top |

| Q: I have a file
that is over 2GB when expanded, and it fails trying
to expand it with WinRAR on my Win98/95 machine. What
should I do? |
A: There
are limitations in the file systems and operating
systems that WinRAR cannot overcome. These limitations
do not exist when you run on a system with Windows
NT/Windows 2000/Windows XP using the NTFS file
system. Back to top |

| Q: I have a RAR file that is password protected, and
I don't know / can't remember what the password is. How do I get to the files? |
A: There's good news, and bad news. The good news is that RAR is
secure enough that not even the author has a backdoor into the archive to retrieve your files. The bad
news is, you may be out of luck. You can search the internet for a RAR password cracker and find something
that will do a brute force attack against the archive to see if it can re-open the file. Short of that working,
however, you're out of luck. Back to top |

| Q: How much do upgrades to WinRAR cost? |
A: Nothing!
Upgrades are free. You can download and install the new
version on top of your old version and you're ready to
go. Back to top |
